Bienvenue à la maison créole!

Established in 2010, The Creole Cottage aims to provide New Orleans with an eclectic resale experience where home goods are attractive and affordable. We take used furnishings, give them a kick and out comes an upcycled product that makes your home truly beautiful and unique.

So exactly what is upcycling?
So let’s say you have this beat up, old dresser from college that doesn’t quite fit in with your contemporary decor taste now that you’re post-graduate. You decide to put it out on the curb and over comes your friendly neighbor to take the piece off your trash pile and use in his basement tv room.
That’s recycling.

But say that neighbor didn’t come over and The Creole Cottage’s owner, Joyce, stops by to take the piece off your trash pile. She takes it back to her workspace, fixes any broken drawers and damaged wood areas, paints the piece a new color, distresses the piece to add character and VOILA! You now have the perfect shabby chic accessory for your little girl’s bedroom.
That’s upcycling.

Meet the Upcyclers

Chief Upcycling Officer
The Creole Cottage is a family business founded by Joyce Croffitt. Joyce has spent over 15 years turning old home goods into new and exciting treasures. A former NOPD Officer, Joyce took her love of used goods and artistic skill set on as a business after making the move to Atlanta, Ga. Over the years, she has worked with a number of freelance artisans in business ventures that provide clients with budget-friendly home goods that also look good. Now that she’s traded in her title Police Officer for Chief Upcycling Officer, Joyce is responsible for turning a wide variety of furniture beasts into furniture beauties for your home, second home or small business.
